California Social Work License Options
Renewals occur every two years, and 36 hours of continuing education (C.E.) must be completed before the renewal period. Hours, exceptions, mandatory courses, acceptable providers, and more can be found on the BBS website. Newly licensed LCSWs only need 18 hours of C.E. during their first two years.
The continuing education information helps you stay abreast of new developments in the field. Licenses can be renewed online, or you can print and mail a paper application. Fees for active renewals sent on time are $220, and delinquent ones will cost $320. Inactive renewal fees are $120 if sent by the due date and $170 if sent afterward.
