Scholarship Mission

To provide leadership in practice, research, teaching, and policy promulgation in government or private organizations serving underrepresented and underserved persons with or at risk for mental health and/or substance abuse disorders.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a doctoral program in a school of social work; must be an American citizen, non citizen national, or have permanent residence status; must have a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program.

How Winners are Selected

Recipients will be selected based on the potential for assuming a leadership role providing mental health and substance abuse services to ethnic/racial minority individuals and communities and potential for success in doctoral studies; evidence of strong fit with and commitment to behavioral health services for underserved racial/ethnic populations; life experiences relevant to and/or volunteer or work experience with racial/ethnic populations.
