The LMSW is designed for MSW-prepared social workers (find MSW programs) who want to practice advanced or clinical social work under supervision, including assessment and counseling services. It serves as the required stepping stone toward clinical licensure, allowing practitioners to gain supervised experience toward the LCSW.
The LCSW is Delaware’s highest level of social work licensure, intended for experienced MSW-level professionals (find MSW programs) who have completed required post-graduate supervised clinical hours and passed the clinical ASWB exam. This license authorizes independent clinical practice, including diagnosing mental health conditions, providing psychotherapy, and operating a private practice.
