Purpose for the scholarship To provide scholarships for Hilo High School student athletes.
Requirements to qualify? Applicant must be a resident of Hawaii and a graduating senior of Hilo High School (if there are no eligible applicants from Hilo High School, current year graduating seniors will be considered from other Hawai’i Island high schools in the following order of preference: Waiakea High School, St. Joseph High School, other Hawai’i Island high schools); must be a full-time student attending an accredited, four year, not-for-profit institution within the continental U.S. that is a NAIA, Division II, or Division III school; must be an athlete that participated in a varsity sport while in high school; must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need; must demonstrate leadership experience and qualities as demonstrated by serving as the captain of a varsity sports team, a student government leader or an officer of an extracurricular program; must have participated in community service.
Selection criteria among applicants Preference will be given to students participating in more than one varsity sport.
