Purpose for the scholarship
To recognize students who have achieved academic excellence while overcoming hardship or other difficult circumstances.

Requirements to qualify?
Applicants must be high school seniors attending public, parochial or private high schools in New York City; must have demonstrated academic achievement, commitment to learning-especially in the face of financial and other obstacles and community service; Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

Selection criteria among applicants
Preference will be given to students whose parents have not graduated from accredited American four-year colleges or universities.
